Our Class Saint
Saint Thomas More
St Thomas More is the patron saint of adopted children. We celebrate our patron saints feast day on 22nd June.
He is usually shown wearing a gold livery chain and a symbol of his service to the King.
Thomas More was born in London in 1478 and studied to become a lawyer. He was recognised for his great intelligence, impartiality, and wisdom.
While Sir Thomas More didn't necessarily have any miracles associated with his sainthood, His work and actions were always guided by steadfast moral principles.
Feast Day - Friday 24th March. We will celebrate this in school on Wednesday 25th June.
Spring 1
This half term, we will be using Eva Ibbotsons’ novel, ‘The Abominables’, as an inspiration for our own writing in Literacy. We will look at the varied features of writing and use our findings to include in our own writing. Following this, we will look at diary writing from the perspective of different characters in the story.
R.E.
Christmas
We will look at the story of the shepherds and how they reacted to the news of Christ’s birth. We will also explore in depth why the crib is an important reminder of the birth of Christ.
Reconciliation
This unit of learning involves the children exploring human choices, the consequences of sin, Christ’s teaching on forgiveness and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
